El Tímpano's Roadblocks to Relief Report
Deana Balinton from El Tímpano who was on our CBO Panel in April reached out to us with their latest report Roadblocks to Relief. Their report examines barriers Latino and Mayan immigrants have faced in accessing pandemic relief, as well as ways to address the evolving resource needs of the communities they serve. From Deana:
Throughout the pandemic, community members have expressed their frustration at the challenges of accessing resources we inform them of. The report—based on more than 100 survey responses and 25 phone interviews—outlines the expressed resource needs of Latino and Mayan immigrants, numerous barriers immigrants have faced in trying to access assistance, and community feedback as to how resources could be more accessible to them. It also includes steps El Tímpano is taking to better connect community members to the resources and services they seek.
You can find the online report and a downloadable pdf version on El Tímpano's website here.
As we strengthen our work to address information inequities and continue to listen to the needs of the communities we serve, we would be happy to share and discuss these findings with you or your team, hear your thoughts, and explore how we might work together to address some of the gaps we found.
